There are a limited number of magazines
specialising in motorhomes plus a few that include motorhomes as part of
their remit.
Motorcaravan
Motorhome Monthly or MMM as it is known has been the UK market leader for
many years. A typical issue runs to maybe 300 pages of articles and adverts
including about 40 pages of classifieds plus a very useful series of
supplier addresses. It claims the biggest subscriber base. The
publishers, Warners, are organisers of several of the major motorhome shows.
Its sister magazine Which
Motorcaravan exists to provide vehicle test reports.
Motorhome Monthly or MHM is a
smaller magazine with more of a lifestyle bent and more than a passing
interest in RVs. It claims the biggest circulation thanks to a policy of
free copies from varying locations. Stone Leisure are organisers of
several major motorhome shows.
Motor Caravan is also monthly
and known as MCM. Midway in size between the first two with its own
character including regular stuff on classics plus a very practical section.
Practical Motorhome is a newer
magazine making much use of reader resources. Sister to Practical
Caravan it has been remodelled after a somewhat mixed start.
Autotrader
is a regionalised national vehicle sales weekly with a strong caravan & boat
section that often includes good numbers of motorhomes.
There is a newer Caravan /
Motorcaravan Mart
attempting to take that section as its own.
In France Camping Car Magazine
and le Monde du Camping Car seem to be the majors while Germany's ProMobil
is well respected in many countries. The German Wohnmobile-Markt is
like Autotrader but entirely devoted to motorhomes - very popular with those
looking for a private import. We'd like to hear of Spanish and Italian
publications -
please email us if you have some info.
Many have websites but they can be quite
disappointing since these publishers want you to buy the magazines not to
read them on the web! |
